Other than that, they encourage students to come from a well-rounded academic background. While many applicants have a pre-med BS, this is not a requirement. naLicensed naturopathic doctors work as primary care physicians. Like most physicians, the majority of their day is spent seeing patients in a medical office. A typical patient visit lasts for 30 minutes (a first visit may run between 60 and 90 minutes depending on the complexity of the case). A patient visit usually includes diagnosis, discussion of possible treatments, counseling about lifestyle or nutrition, prescription of natural remedies, or referral to other medical specialists if necessary. When appropriate, the ND may also perform treatments in their office, such as hydrotherapy.
